JAPAN PART 1 – HAKUBISHIN
I had a great time in Japan. It was my first trip there and I am already trying to book another flight for October, I just need more Japan. Dennis quoted Anthony Bourdain, “There is only life before Tokyo and life after Tokyo.” Or something along those lines. I felt it, I am feeling it.
I spent a week in Tokyo and a week in Yokohama. “Hakbushin” is a raccoon cat looking thing with a long tail. I saw one. I didn’t see the raccoon dog though, “Tanuki”. I couldn’t even find any of those little drunk Tanuki statues with the big long balls, I looked everywhere.
We had an art show. We played video games. We got free clothes. Ate super good food and drank super good sake.
I was thinking it was going to be a big task editing down photos for this Japan post, which is why I have been lagging. But since I already made 3 zines with photos from the trip, I figure I can just highlight stuff from the zines. Too much info, I know. Here you go..

STRENGTH OF A STALLION
This is the beginning of Star Trek: Into Darkness when Spock is inside a live volcano about to erupt and he’s like “Fuck it, don’t rescue me.”
I didn’t do such a good job on my teeth over the years. 2 more had to be extracted. And they kept breaking so they came out in pieces. I think I chew weird now. Tell me if I do the next time we go eat.

CLUB PRO SMOKE BREAK
I met Sebastian in SF years ago and he actually interned at the studio for minute. Now he is the editor and publisher of his own magazine called Foundations. Him and a bunch of other people put on this book fair called Smoke Break at a gallery called Club Pro. I had a Hamburger Eyes table and did a slideshow presentation. Fun weekend.

PUFFER FISH
Quick trip to SF for… nothing. Just visiting. First time in a long time where I went somewhere and didn’t have to work. Skated a bunch. Chilled a bunch. Ate a bunch. I needed it.

BLACK POODLE
I had to go to LA for the opening of a photo show we hung in the offices of Super Deluxe. On the way up I pulled over for gas and posted this photo in my insta stories. So many people commented and dm’d me about this photo. Kids that were from this area which is I don’t even know, north of Long Beach I think. Anyways, how random that this photo has had the most action in my insta story mode so far.
They got a keg for the office! And a lot of them had never done a keg stand before. It was fun. But it was an office party, so it ended early.
Back to the hotel. Monkey was in town for one night too. We shared a room. Here he is eating a burrito.
Then we went to Hop Louie.

Ziggy.
Breakfast. This food is good for sure, but I think I like coming here because I saw Marisa Tomei one time before. Also, there is a Starbucks on the block.
Monkey had to kill time, his ride to the desert wasn’t done with work till 5pm. So I dropped him off at Jason’s house while I had to go back to San Diego.
